That will certainly do the job, although with no compression or
removal of unused sectors.

What do you want to do? If you are backing up a file system for which
you have a driver, use that instead. You will save room on the backup
media.

If you are backing up an Oracle raw partition, you may be better off
dumping the data and backing that up. There may also be transaction
integrity issues with backing up Oracle raw partitions this way.
