Hi!
i am having a bit of trouble with connections to my
linux box from a remote client using pptp. The
connection is established correctly and everything
works great if only one user is connected. However, as
soon as IPs start being assigned and reassigned my
WINS serving samba starts to get confused. For
example. I connect to my box from win2k. get ip
192.168.0.102. I can browse the network and do
whatever i want. Suppose someone else connects in the
same way, i see them in network neighborhood and all
is good. if i disconnect and connect again, suppose i
instead get ip 104. I still have the same netbios name
and samba doesn't re-enter the ip/nbname info into the
WINS database!! that means that if someone wanted to
connect to my box, samba would return the old address
102 as mine instead of the new one 104 and the host
would be unreachable. i hope i have been clear enough
for someone to maybe have a solution to this---
ideally i would like a way to force nmbd to reexamine
the WINS database either on connect or disconnect of a
PPTP client because somewhere along the line there is
something not working right.

if i am unclear about anything please ask,
thanks!
Pat
