The GigE network interface (VIA Velocity 6122) on my Abit motherboard apparently doesn't support offloaded TCP checksumming for IPv6, but it does support it for IPv4. The Fedora kernel driver was configured to always offload TCP checksumming, no matter what the protocol. Rebuilding the driver after turning off the proper flag fixed the problem.
