I guess that the problem is that java on your Windows box does not speak X: it does not use X-protocol. Some programs you have installed with Cygwin (xeyes and xclock) do use X-protocol. Try to use some other "remote GUI" protocol which is supported by windows, e.g., vnc. -- Regards, ASK
