Depends on what do you want wo sniff.
If you want to log packets and sessions most of home firewalls give that
opportunity (tiny for example)
If you want to log colmpletely all traffic i'd recommend eeye's Iris.
It has very good performance, filtering categories, glues tcp sessions
very nicely and never BSD-d me.
