You sure did have quite a lot of bad luck with it!

I have installed it on a lot of workstations without a problem, and I
actually have it installed on a W2K AS that has IIS, FTP, DNS, and mail
servers. No problems so far

I have had quite a few problems with zone alarm.

With windows 2000:

Machine 1: I installed ZoneAlarm and rebooted. From that point on windows
2000 refused to come up. I had to repair it. I did not try to install it
on that machine again.

Machine 2: Installed ZoneAlarm. Seemed to go OK. But I noticed that any
time that I got two communications simultaneously (i.e. and ICQ message and
a mail message) that my computer would hard lock. This was both consistent
and repeatable. Uninstalling ZoneAlarm fixed this issue.

Machine 3: ZoneAlarm caused general system instability.

Windows 98: General system instability.

I am not saying that ZoneAlarm is a bad product. I have seen it work
wonderfully on a lot of machines. I personally have not had good luck with
it.

Most of the @Home customers in my department use it (approximately 10 of
us), along with an IPSec client from Lucent, and it
seems to have no adverse effects. I've never tried the built-in IPSec or
PPTP that Windows 2000 has, though.
