Akamai runs servers all over the world, which allows clients to
grab images, flash applets, etc... from a server on network closer to
them. You might want to check out their site http://www.akamai.com/.
I personally find it a disturbing that Norton puts what at least
appear to be critical files on Akamai servers. To me this largely
incresaes the security risks since now you have many more targets to
attempt to compromise. IIRC this happened to MS that one of their servers
hosted in another country was compromised and a virus was distributed to
users through the compromised server.
So in other words this is nothing to worry about, Akamai is user
by some of the largest sites out there to serve their content.
