My Experience:

        Windows 98 SE2
        MSDE (Office 2k Pro CD-ROM)

Despite telling MSDE to use TCP/IP, port scans indicated 1433/tcp was
closed.

As far as i could tell, msde only supported named pipes.

I have no idea the effect of the OS in question.. i didnt test MSDE on an
NT/2K box, so your mileage may vary.

Subject: Stupid MSDE question

Hi,

Is there anyone who could tell me if MSDE can be accessed by TCP/IP like
MS-SQL (in the view of the recent worm)?

If so, is there any way to tell it to change the sa password in it?

I tried to find how it is, but I'm far from being a DBA and we need MSDE
here (for SharePoint Team Services, and it needs to be accessible from
the web).

Any information would be very appreciated.

Thanks,

Franois
