This is true... But there are a few caveats though.

SecureIM is only supported via AIM and ICQ, and (I BELIEVE) for DCC
chats in IRC.

Additionally, SecureIM won't work in conjunction with AIMs "Direct
Connection" feature where the data is sent directly to the other persons
IP. Its one or the other with the current version (0.71). (Use a sniffer
to confirm this.)

Last but not least, there is no way to authenticate the person on the
other end.

But its definitely a start.
