Hello everyone! Remember our good friend SATAN 1.1.1? :)
I am running Linux Redhat 7.0 kernel 2.4.16 and perl 5.6. And as I started to write a rather brisk article about scanners, I remembered all the little tricks I went through to make SATAN work. http://home.att.net/~psantoro/satan.html is a GREAT article about SATAN and linux...but it left out some of the little hacks I had to do to make SATAN run well off my machine. And then I thought to myself maybe another quick and dirty article about SATAN installation and configuration was in order. I was wondering if people on this list would like such an article. I know...I know. SATAN 1.1.1 isn't the most up to date scanner in the world, but it is a good starting point in the world of scanners, and it's an educational and historical program to understand. So..uh..yeah. Feedback? ;) P.S. before people start replying with things to do with SARAH and SAINT, I know they are more up to date, but I want to focus on SATAN. I have the other mentioned scanners up and running as well.
