Windows XP is about to be the next target of my OS scan project. It may not be as
comprehensive as some may like, but it will give you an overview and comparison to
other Microsoft platforms that have undergone the same testing. The Windows 2000 scan
(no sp, sp1, sp2 and the latest security patch) were completed last night and will be
posted to www.mrcorp.net under the OS Scan project and at www.securitywriters.org site
in the near future.

If any one has any questions pertaining to this, they can email me direct.

Thank you,

Charles

Subject: Windows XP Security analysis

Hi,

Has anybody done a run-down of the security aspects of Windows XP Home/Professional ?

The buzzword minded people keep saying it's "more secure", but apart from an NT kernel
and a fancy GUI, all I've seen that's notable is a basic portfilter and a user model
that forces most people to do everything as Administrator if they want stuff to work.

Are there docusments out there that explain WinXP in a non-vacuous way?

Cheers,

Nick
