You need to go to Logs/Alerts in the IDScenter and
check the path to your logs directory. Maker sure
the path is valid. After making sure the path is
valid be sure to click the "Make Script", and
"Load Script" buttons. Stop and re-start Snort
for good measure. Also make sure you are running
the IDScenter that came with the version of Snort
you are running and not one that came with a prior
version.

Subject: SNORT error

Thanks for all previos response. I have it installed on
my server. When I test config I get:

|> IDScenter 2001 test console <|
-- Press ENTER after checking Snorts output --
Log directory = C:\Documents

        --== Initializing Snort ==--

[!] ERROR: Can not get write access to logging
directory C:\Documents.
(directory doesn't exist or permissions are set
incorrectly
or it is not a directory at all)

Fatal Error, Quitting..
What access does it need, and to which account do I
give access to?

thanks
