sounds like a library linking issue, i have not dealt with solaris on this, 
but in linux you'd need to put the path that the ncurses's libs were 
installed to into /etc/ld.so.conf, then run ldconfig. i beleive solaris has 
somethign with similar funtionality called crle or something
