As far as free, win32 apps go, a fairly useful tool I use a great deal
is LANGuard Network Scanner (http://www.gfi.com/languard/lanscan.htm), a
simple and effect starting place for single host or address range
scanning.

Subject: The Best Network Scanner?

Good day,

I just wanted to pose this question to the group, what are some of the
best network scanners on the market for finding vulnerabilities on your
network, reporting on issues, and suggesting fixes for the known
vulnerabilities that are found?
