I just read an article in Linux Magazine about a business card size cd
linux distro that can be used for system rescue and recovery. I have
never used it and don't know if it is what you are looking for but
hopefully it helps. If it isn't exactly what you are looking for you can
probably customize it so that it does what you need. The iso can be
downloaded from their site
