What you're looking for is called ssh tunelling - ssh has the ability to wrap arbitrary protocol inside secure session. You have to tweak it a little bit on both sides - at the server side and the client side (they both have to have ssh installed, and you should be able to tweak both sides or have a friendly admin on the server side). Once you set it up, you have your own little VPN with secure transactions between the parts. For an example of how to set up ftp trough ssh, take a look at http://people.ece.cornell.edu/schuh/tunnelssh.html Here's a little bit more about the topic... http://www.cs.wisc.edu/csl/doc/howto/remote/index.html#secure-ftp.faq Above should work for any protocol with just slight changes. And of course, man ssh is your friend. :-) -- Radoslav Dejanovic Senior Associate to Mayor's Office City of Zagreb, Croatia
