no. iptables is linux 2.4 specific. the code is based in the kernel, so just because you can run the command line iptables command doesn't mean you'll actually accomplish anthing (you'll probably get errors about missing libraries and such). there aren't equivalent kernel calls in freebsd. > PacketFilter runs in freebsd as well? Or only on OpenBSD afaik, pf hasn't been ported to freebsd yet. once again, this has specific kernel dependencies which may not be satisfied in freebsd. although the possibility of a port from pf to *bsd seems more likely than a port of iptables. > Wich technology that u sugest and pleae why... > oh, i forgot the platafomr that i will use is a IBM PPC, but > I still want know the consequeces of running in a PC Intel. well, that narrows down your decision alot. ipm ppc machines (rs/6000??) are only supported by linux and netbsd. there are no "consequences" in your decision on intel platforms, as all of the OS's you listed will run on x86. It really comes down to which system you're the most comfortable with running. -jon -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] || www.divisionbyzero.com gpg key: www.divisionbyzero.com/pubkey.asc think i have a virus? www.divisionbyzero.com/pgp.html "You are in a twisty little maze of Sendmail rules, all confusing."
