Removing the server service won't prevent you from doing any networking
at all - it will, however, prevent your machine from providing SMB
services to other machines on the network (file, print, etc), plus a few
lesser issues involving the messenger service, browse lists etc.

The administrative shares, as the name implies, are designed primarily
to allow an administrator of your machine (whether that be yourself or
the network admins) to access your hard drives from the network. If
your machine is stand-alone, there is no need for these shares to exist.

Thanks,
Dave

I removed it and had no detrimental effects at all. Can somebody explain
what effect and/or use these shares are other than that they are for
administrative purposes

Joe (please be gentle first post)
