Well it would really depend on the the type of setup u have. but keep the mailserver 
in the internal network unless it is absolutely necessary to put it in the DMZ. If it 
is not going to act as a full fledged mail server with a external IP then putting it 
on the Local network would be a better idea.. less chances of any services eg. pop3d 
from qpopper or imapd being exploited.
