I think Jay covered most of it , but still in addition, security WILL probably 
be important enough once people are technically aware of the damage an unsecure 
system may cause, BUT and this is very important to remember - NO ONE except 
the people who deal with security , likes to hear about security , and it is 
actually quite simple - security means to most people expenses, most companies 
do not make more money out of being more secure , IT managers , mostly dont 
understand what thair security auditor\administrator etc.... is doing , and 
they dont really want to know , so you WILL have to fight your way through and 
be very convincing when applying for a security oriented job .

About certifications.....heh ....well how can you learn something that changes 
every day ?
