Good Afternoon,

Change the default Name, SSID, and WEP keys. Go to their web site and
do a full firmware upgrade; if possible. Turn off transmit SSID, and
possible set up a MAC address list of allowed users.

Problems: Even with all the above it is moderately easy to crack WEP,
and or Hack a SSID. MAC addresses are also moderately easy to spoof. I
would recommend setting up a DMZ and placing the AcessPoint in there. Also
run an application firewall on all LAN workstations.

Good Luck,

Subject: securing my new wireless router

So I've ordered a wireless router for home....I'm quite sure that it ships
"wide open" with no security set....I was wondering if any of you could be
kind enough to offer suggestions or point me towards any good articles on
securing my new wireless environment. i'd like to find a mix of both theory
and checklist stuff.....so I can secure it and understand the what's and
whys.

Thanks,

chris
