And, sad but true, there is a certain level of innate stupidity (often combined with chronic laziness) that simply needs a metaphorical baseball bat upside the head to fix. He hung his head out, I hit it. In private mail I've received a lot of "well said" type replies and the only (mild) criticsms are two that have come to the list as well. To me, that says I got the balance about right. I'm sure that if the list moderators did not think my post was appropriate they would not have approved it, but given it has drawn some criticism, they may re-evaluate where they draw that cut-off line in future.
