I'm not sure what you're running, but one of the first tools one can used
to find port-program bindings is Google. Of course this requires good
knowledge of what software is on the machine. The PID-port method
mentioned is a lot better for tracking down the software bound to the port
if you're not certain you haven't been compromised. Anyway...

Are you running Tiny Personal Firewall (now known as Kerio PF I believe)? 
A Google search on your port gave me this article:

It seems that software has a remote management feature that listens on
port 44334. If you're running that firewall, you might want to see about
disabling that.
