could you not run all the services from your first desktop? regardless if
its windows or not. I'd
say its better to do that, than risk running applications on your firewall.

Yes, you are potentially leaving your firewall open to back door access, you
can
tighten the webserver up by placing it within a jail/chroot environment but
this limits functionality.

personally I'd say use openbsd/freebsd - if you did seperate the machines,
you could use www.closedbsd.org (firewall on a cd/floppy disk)
