sorry to follow-up to my own message, but it looks like this is a bit of a
wider problem than i first thought.

here's the situation: i'm using the openssl shipped in /usr/sfw (0.9.8a in
snv_49). i've rebuilt imapd and apache2 using this

- accessing imapd with TLS/SSL (port 993) with Mac OSX Mail.app works fine
- accessing imapd with TLS/SSL (port 993) with Windows Thunderbird does not work
(yields "TLS1_SETUP_KEY_BLOCK:cipher or hash unavailable" error)

- accessing apache2 with https:// from Mac OS Safari works fine
- accessing apache2 with https:// from Windows Firefox does not work
("connection was interrupted" - can't find the exact error but i'm guessing
it's the same)
- accessing apache2 with https:// from Mac OS X Firefox does not work
- accessing apache2 with https:// from Solaris snv_49 Firefox does not work

so - having things built with the shipped opensolaris openssl break when
operating with mozilla stuff doesn't seem ideal.

any ideas/suggestions?
