Hi all!

I first want to say Thanks! to the developers of Sedna for providing
an open source native xml db! Its quite impressive, and good to see
regular releases and updates.

I was reading through the docs (which are a bit sparse in places) to
get a better idea of the capabilities of sedna, and noted that indexes
are not used unless specifically called upon by a query. With a SQL
database, indexes are used whenever possible, external to the query.

A few questions re:indexes:
1) what kind of a performance difference is there with/without indexes?
2) would having a collection with 1 000 000 records work almost as
fast as with 10 records?
3) what are the future plans for indexing? ie. more like SQL databases?

One other comment - it was not clear to me that full text search is an
optional add on that will cost money to get, maybe you could make that
more obvious in your documentation and from the main web page?

Thanks very much!

Mark

PS. I have read through the mailing list and saw there was mention
made a year ago about automatic usage of indexes (said that it wasn't
going to be done in the near future), but that was a year ago and with
an older version of Sedna...
