I will try attributes instead of sub-tags.

I am indeed planning to load new data infinitely and probably won't
remove any old data. I understand that that you recommend one document
per device id. I understand that by setting up a collection I can run
queries on all of these documents at once. Is that correct?

We are limited to using only free software (free as in license) so
dtSearch is not an option for me. I will try to minimize the
fn:contains() queries as much as I can.
