Chocolate Vine

>From the forest margins of East Asia comes this unusual climbing
vine. Bearing fragrant purplish flowers in pendant racemes all
summer. Useful to grow up a trellis or for trying something unusual
in your hanging basket?

Chinese Love Vine
A beautiful tropical climber easily raised from seed, often used in
warmer climates planted in hanging baskets. Racemes of soft pink
flowers on a self clinging vine which can become invasive in
tropical climates. My own plant grown from seed last year and now in
a hanging basket started flowering late August but flowering may
start earlier on more mature plants, in any case the foliage alone
makes it worth growing.

Dutchman's Pipe
Unusual woody stemmed climbers with large purplish flowers and large
oval leaves. Needs to be greenhouse or conservatory grown with a
minimum of 10C in winter when the plant needs to be kept on the dry
side. Very unusual vine that makes a great talking point. The plant
in the picture flowering in its second year from our seed.

Butterfly Pea
Fast growing tropical climbing perennial that produces two inch blue
flowers in mid to late Summer. They provide quick cover for lattice,
trellis, arbor and chain-link fence, and are a favourite food source
for butterflies.

Chilean Glory Flower
Chilean glory flower is a scrambling climber hardy in most parts of
the country on a warm wall. Clusters of small tubular orange to red
flowers cover the vine all summer. Easily grown climber

Purple Coral Pea
A very attractive tropical vine from West Australia that can
tolerate frost to -5C when established but best as a conservatory
climber where it loves hot dry conditions. Flowers held in racemes
often creating a stunning picture, used in USA gardens in semi
desert locations.

Firecracker Vine

A member of the Ipomoea family with sprays of red/yellow flowers. I
find this an excellent plant grown through other shrubs that look
tired with no flowers at the end of the summer. Give it plenty of
sun and water and it will produce a spectacular display

Scarlet Passion Flower
Fantastic brilliant red flowers on a climber with vine shaped
leaves. It will need heat and plenty of room to flower but easy from
seed flowering in the second or third season.

Blue Trumpet Vine
Thunbergia Grandiflora, is a woody stemmed perennial climber with
lovely pale to mid blue trumpet flowers born in clusters throughout
most of the summer. Hardy down to just above freezing it is ideal
for over wintering in a cold greenhouse or conservatory. Grown up a
suitable framework it makes a lovely show in a Conservatory or
outside in a sheltered location. I have been really pleased in my
trials last year with this plant that can be grown from seed or
propagated from cuttings of semi ripe wood. It appears to be
reasonably resistant to aphid, white fly and red spider so please
give this one a try.
