HI,

I have tried webcelerator and never had a problem with it (except from that as
I access only a few pages I never accessed their webpage so it set to idle).

Now I am using Netsonic. It is much easier to set up (you do not have to enter
any proxy information in the browser). It comes as a freeware (a little ad
bar
appears, it is of the size of the browser top where the title of the page
appears -the head title, not the body). There is a paid version too.

If you do not agree with prefetching you can set if off and still use the
other
functions.

The new version (which I do not have) claims to:
Now with New Exciting NetSonic-Gator Features! Accelerates Web form filling
Accelerates login names & passwords entries. Other New Features: Site
Exclusion
Offline Browsing Customized cache location

If you do not like these cache programs you can just use a MTU tweak program
like Hagais Boost which is easy to use and it aslso comes with detailed
information about MTU

You can also try selective image filtering with Webwasher (free). It can wok
together with netsonic. Is is like a proxy:

Another free proxy (more complicated to set up but a small download) is at

I have also tried Opera as Alan recommends. Remember Opera does not support
Java (or did not till v.3.51). The Sun plugin is 7 megs.
