I regret to pass along news of Dutch Van Blaircom’s passing on Dec 30th. Dutch
was a long term member of the Spokane mining community, employee of Cominco
America as Chief Geophysicist and strong supporter of the NorthWest Mining
Association. He and Cominco colleague Louis O’Connor co-authored the seminal
paper on the Red Dog deposit given at Exploration ’87. Dutch was also the
driving force behind the excellent Practical Geophysics series that came out in
the late 1990s.
On behalf of the SEGMIN community, I extend our deepest condolences to Dutch’s
family, friends and colleagues.
