Thanks for letting me know about that - it'll probably go into the next
version of SF. Yeah, a calendar input would still be nice. One feature that
I find extremely interesting in this version is the editable data table - I
don't think that was there before. You can see an example here:

This is just the sort of thing I was envisioning for handling
multiple-instance templates in a more grid-like way. I was thinking the Ext
library would have to be used for that purpose, but it looks like YUI can
now handle that on its own.
