Exactly. Indeed I had to implement the entire template in French, so 
that it would annotate French-language versions of all my properties. 
(And some of those properties required French-language versions of my 
custom types!) And as you saw, I made every effort to provide 
French-language parameter names for use by any French-speaking editors.

And of course a French speaker would find working with English names 
more difficult. English is the worst language ever invented for having 
to learn it as a second language. I find gaining facility in French 
myself far easier.

If I understand you correctly, that would require knowledge of the 
language code. Does MediaWiki have a standard variable for the language 
code? if so, how is that variable named?

I haven't had a chance yet to figure out why SMW 1.0.1 locks all pages 
having dates on them. Which is why I am still running SMW 1.0, one 
"minor release" behind. Does SMW 1.0.1 have Mr. Vrandecic's changes to 
Special:Browse?
