Yeah, but there are some translated words that are not part of the MW message 
system but pulled directly from PHP files instead. This is done with messages 
that are needed all the time: messages cause DB reads that would affect 
performance in a negative way.

This is also done by MW for some messages, but their files are already 
supported by translatewiki directly. In our case, there is no such support 
yet, so we still maintain these files like code.

A solution would be to create a dummy extension that holds all required texts, 
and whose message file is translated in translatewiki. One would only need a 
script that pulls the messages from this dummy extension to create the files 
that are actually shipped with SMW. Contributions are welcome (the required 
file structure and texts can be seen in the files below ./languages/).
