I'm using Doug Rohdes svdlibc and found that some compilation options for
very larger
files on a 64 bit system can remove the typical 32 limitations regarding the
amount of data that can be processed.
The compilation options for gcc are:
-D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE -D_LARGEFILE64_SOURCE
I have not tested this, but using icc (if available) might result in a
faster running program.
Maybe someone more technically inclined can back these statements...
