You can check your cat by simply unbolting it(better soak the bolts with penetrating 
oil first)from the exhaust.
Once you have it out,hold it up to a bright light source. You should be able to see 
light thru it. Also,check the "mesh" screen. Make sure it isn't melted.
If you can see light through it,and it isn't melted,you cat is OK.
