In 1987 I paid $350 for a Volvo Borg-Warner 4-speed with electric overdrive,
which effectively made it a 5-speed overdrive (only I wired it so I could do
O/D in any gear but reverse, so it was really an 8-speed, sorta).  Things
are worth what people are willing to pay for them.  If no one was willing to
pay $750 for a Nissan 5-speed you can bet your ass the price would not be
$750 very long.
