Hi,

Surprisingly much... I bet something like $1500-2000
A month ago someone hit my car's rear ('92 XE) causing minor paint scratches
and a barely visible crack in the taillamp.
I collected four estimates ranging from $626 - $980 for the paint job & lamp.
Showed them to the insurance people, and next week I a found a check for $626
(lowest estimate) in the mail.
I put a AAA sticker over the bumper crack, bought some paint at Walmart for
$2,
painted the quarter panel scratches in 5 minutes, and was happy with the
check.
I'm selling my car (not because the accident :) and of the people already
interested in it nobody was able to catch that it was recently fixed. Well, if
they had a closer look...

So the bottom line:
collect 3-4 estimates, and show them to the insurance guy, and if they still
want to haggle, tell them to haggle with the repair shops instead of you...
