OK, you asked for it.

Do you think you might be "winning" because the drivers of those cars were
messing with you?

That's what I would do if I thought you were trying to race either of my
cars in your stock 4dr 94 Sentra.  I would only use my go pedal to stay
about a half a car length in front of you, no matter how hard you pushed
your car, all the while having a serene look on my face, as if I were taking
a liesurely Sunday drive.

What would it prove for the driver of a much faster car (Eclipse GS-T, Supra
Turbo) to waste his gas and put himself at risk of getting a ticket or
causing an accident to beat an 18 second car?

If I was you, I would stick to racing cars (at the drag strip, mind you :))
that were in a similar class to mine.  I don't go challenging sub 13 second
cars (like LS1 powered GM cars) to races in any of mine vehicles, because I
know I will lose, and make myself look foolish.
