You are dead wrong about the tranny not breaking. Plenty of NA SE-R's blow
up third gear, and pretty much any hard shifting or high-load acceleration
in a turbo SE-R will soon enough destroy the transmission. This is such a
problem that Quaiffe was commissioned to design a $3000 gear set to keep the
turbo'ed SE-R's from requiring tranny swaps every year.
Search the SE-R mailing list archives with the words "tranny"/"transmission"
and "turbo" for confirmation.
