Today I was at a local speed shop talking to the owner (who is cool and
loves Toyota's). Anyway there was a guy that was waiting for some work the
shop was doing to car to be completed. So he and I started talking. He owns
a Civic LX with a B series motor swap (Type R everything) with port/polish
and a valve job as well. He estimates that his car is pushing about 250
ponies. Anyway we started talking about racing. Of course most of you know
that I autocross. He started saying that his car was this and that. So I say
that sure his car would whop my ass in the straights but he would be my
b*tch in the corners! He didn't like that to much and wanted to race me out
on the street. Of course I showed him my badge and told him that racing on
the street would not be a good career move on his part. But I did offer him
a chance to try and whop my ass in the next auto-x event. That's when the
owner told him not to challenge me because I would wear him out. He then
asked how so. The owner then said because he has a well balanced car, not to
mention he has the ability to adjust his suspension, something you can't do.
Anyway comes to find out that this guy has dropped over $10,000 to hop up
his motor and add bigger brakes but that's it nothing else. It's guys like
this that I REALLY enjoy beating at auto-x events! The guy never did accept
my offer either. I thought so!
