Ouch. Time to invest in some tools and a manual and learn to do it
yourself. That's what got me into it; after dropping $300 once on a clutch
job and another $300 scarcely a month later for alternator/regulator (and
this was back in '83) I decided I didn't trust the bastards and slowly
accumulated tools. I STILL don't trust em, but now I have less time to
maintain me own car. :(

Subject: SML-NON-P: Rear Drums...con't
Well, everyone grab some K.Y. and get ready for another great $tealership
story. I got an estimate over the phone to replace my rear drums and fix
the squealing when i turn my air on. Now keep in mind I have already paid
over $300 to resurface my drums and get ALL new belts back in January. The
guy says that my AC is squealing because my oil pan is leaking and my
crankcase is leaking. This is around $300 to fix. Then he says (I almost
friggin passed out) that I need to RESURFACE my drums again. I just took
it to SEARS who said they are warped, and out of round and cannot be
resurfaced anymore, they MUST be replaced. They even gave me the specs
from the machine. And that this will only cost me $120. I told him that
my car was THOROUGHLY inspected in Jan and the mechanic said that it looked
great except for a couple of things which I paid to fix. Now, all of a
sudden, I have an oil leak and my crankcase is leaking. How the F*** did
they miss that 6 months ago!?!? I have decided to write a letter to Nissan
Corporate. I am sick of this crap. I am also considering hiring one of
those investigative reporting teams from the local news. I'll be damned if
I am going to pay another peny to fix crap that I just had fixed. Take my
advice, if your car is on it's last leg, don't ever take it to Newburgh
Nissan in NY. That place is a crooked mechanic training school. My friend
also got raped there on his Maxima. I will never take my car there again.
I miss Courtesy Nissan....
