Well yeah, thats the whole point. It just thickens the motor oil so it can't
escape past the seals and rings enough so that it might actually restore the
comrpession. Temporarily that is... But I think the power increase is
probably in your head. Its probably just you trying to justify the price you
paid for the bottle of snake oil. :-)
Is it bad for your car? Probably not, but I doubt it did much good either.

I'm not sure I'd attempt that unless you're pretty experienced with
wrenching. A factory service manual would probably do you much better than
Hanes.

I don't think your car lacks increased intake. Not too sure what that even
is. Does it seem like the motor is not getting enough air? How is it
running? It would take ALOT of carbon build-up inside the intake runners to
choke the motor off. Its probably just something else if the engine doesn't
seem to be running up-to-par.
