Claudia, What sepsis care protocols do you have in place now for adults? Or any protocols?
I am most interested in seeing if there is an ideal format for a protocol. One question we are asking should there be a standard format. Checklist, Flow Chart, Clinical Pathway, all have their advantages and limitations and I think all are needed. Monday, I have 8 medical students who will start on an 8 week QI project on protocols for sepsis and resuscitation in our ED and ICU. Fluids, Pressors And antibiotics are going to be the protocols we attack first. I suspect we will need an adult version, a pediatric version and a neonatal version. Around each student we will form a team of two nurses and one to two physicians. We are interested in collaborations from anyone interested that is working on related approach.
