Dear Madison,

Lori's suggestion for the webinar review is a great one. We used that
information and correspondence with the author to amend our screening tool to
include OB specific criteria.

We performed sepsis screening using our routine screen in 600+ pregnant
patients and found a positive SIRS in 11% of a random sample of non-septic
patients in that group. We amended our sepsis screen for pregnant patients: WBC
>15,000, MHR > 100bpm for gestational age > 20wks, FHR > 160 for gestational
age > 20 weeks and temp >100.4 and are trialing its use.

Hello everyone:

I am the education coordinator in a small community hospital. I am putting
together an education plan for our hospital on the surviving sepsis campaign.

Our providers tend to place femoral central lines, and I cannot find any
evidence to support using the CVP reading from a femoral central line verses
subclavian or internal jugular placed central line to use as a guide for fluid
resuscitation in sepsis.

If you have any information you have on this topic would be greatly
appreciated. Thank you very much!

My background is in the ER, SICU/CVICU - OB land is completely foreign to me. I
am rolling out our sepsis program and do not have the first clue as to how to
effectively screen an OB patient. I cannot find any information either yet many
published articles mention the underdiagnoses in this population. Would this be
done post-partum or on admission during labor? Surely, it's not in labor and
delivery. But, I may be wrong--- again-very foreign. Any information on this
would be fantastic.

Thank you,

Hi Madison,

There is a webcast on the SSC site that might be helpful to you: Sepsis in
Maternal Healthcare
Settings<http://sccmmedia.sccm.org/video/OnDemand/SurvivingSepsis/SSC-Maternal-Healthcare.mp4>
. Our colleagues recorded it and the teaching slides are also there for
downloading.
