Christina,
We also see more fluids given than the 30ml/kg (on occasion), as far as I can
tell looking at the algorithm, that does not cause a failure (from the core
measure perspective)

Thank you, Kim

Subject: [Sepsis Groups] Fluids core measure-exact 30mL/kg?

I am wondering about the fluids administration rule update from today. It seems
very specific to the 30 ml/ kg- no less, no more. Abstractors are to "multiply
the weight in kg times 30; the result is the number of mLs of IV crystalloid
fluids that should be specified in the physician/APN/PA order". My question is
what if the physician orders more? For example a 75 kg patient would need 2250
mL, but doc orders 2500. Is that acceptable? Does not look like it to me, but I
would appreciate your input!
Thanks,
Christina Maupin, MN, RN, CCNS
