Christina, We also see more fluids given than the 30ml/kg (on occasion), as far as I can tell looking at the algorithm, that does not cause a failure (from the core measure perspective)

I am wondering about the fluids administration rule update from today. It seems very specific to the 30 ml/ kg- no less, no more. Abstractors are to "multiply the weight in kg times 30; the result is the number of mLs of IV crystalloid fluids that should be specified in the physician/APN/PA order". My question is what if the physician orders more? For example a 75 kg patient would need 2250 mL, but doc orders 2500. Is that acceptable? Does not look like it to me, but I would appreciate your input!
