Hope for additional clarification and a suggestion on wording. 1 Ask that balanced salt solutions (eg Plasmalyte, Normosol etc) to be added for fluid challenges rather than being restricted to LR and NS. 2 The language should be cleaned up as 30ml/kg is a dose not a rate. "The SCCM guidelines state that 30ml/kg is to be given for severe sepsis (organ dysfunction and 2 SIRS due to a suspected or documented infection) at a rate of 30ml/kg."
