Hello everyone,

My question today is in regards to presentation of severe sepsis.

We have an electronic medical record and have built severe sepsis order sets
for our physicians to utilize. My question is when a patient is admitted and
for example has SIRS criteria met at 0800, next the physician uses the severe
sepsis order set at 0820. I do not have lab results or physician documentation
until 0930. Would it be accurate to utilize the severe sepsis order set time as
presentation at 0820 as the physician used them to place orders or would I
still need to wait on the physician documentation to identify severe sepsis?

Thank you,
CariAnn
