One of our fallouts has been giving fluids within the 3 hour time frame. Not that the order is not put in, but it is difficult to abstract the completion time. According to one of our CMS webinars, we can base the conclusion of infusion of 30 mL/kg of crystalloids from the LIPs order as long as there is a duration in the order and a start time by the nurse. (i.e. NS 0.9% 1500cc over 1 hour). I am just looking for confirmation that this is an acceptable practice because no one else I'm talking too seems to know this. Thanks for your help, don't know what I'd do without this listserv!!
