Would appreciate knowing what EMR your health system current utilizes and how
are you building your electronic abstraction? We are new to EPIC (3 weeks) and
would love to know if electronic abstraction is a viable option in the future.

Hi,

We are about 1100 beds and are abstracting all Septic Shock in EDs (3) and have
been since 2004. Working on total electronic abstraction for November as
opposed to abstractor.

We also have an electronic EMR sepsis alert on 5 pilot units and are expanding
soon and are also refining our electronic abstraction for that report.

And of course our CMS data.

Essentially we will not be collecting all cases but a large number of them.

I would be interested to hear from hospitals with > 500 beds: Are you
abstracting all Sepsis cases or a sample of the initial population?
