Our CMS data abstractors are not able to include fluids given by EMS in
transport(inquiry was sent to Qnet). We can have long transports within our
region. Our EMS teams in our area are becoming educated and engaged in early
recognition of septic shock. Our state protocol is going to have sepsis in the
hypotension algorithm. Upon triage, our ED nurses must enter a "zero" or an
amount of fluid given by EMS. This pulls over to our cumulative I/O. Since
this is documented in the EMR, why can this fluid not be counted? Thank-you
for the input.
